Rui Eduardo Paes With 27 years of activity divided between cultural journalism, music critique and theoretical essayism, Rui Eduardo Paes is the author of several books about creative music, covering the range of tendencies from avant-jazz to experimental music, going through alternative rock, contemporary classical, new music, free improvisation and electronics. He is the chief-editor of the magazine jazz.pt and a member of the board of directors of the association Granular, devoted to the promotion of experimentalism in the Portuguese music and audiovisual and performative arts. REP collaborates with institutions like Serralves Foundation, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Culturgest and House of Music in the elaboration of program texts. He is the author of the record label Clean Feed’s press releases. He was one of the founders of the Ernesto de Sousa Fellowship, presided by the composer and film director Phil Niblock (Experimental Intermedia Foundation), being a permanent member of its juri in representation of the Luso-American Foundation. REP was also an assessor of the ACARTE Service / Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's board of directors and the music comissary of the apreciation comitee for the 2005-2008 supports of the Art Institut / Portuguese Ministry of Culture. |
